Hello everyone, Lauren Alaina, the beloved country singer known for her hit song “Road Less Traveled,” shared some heartbreaking news on social media this week. She announced the passing of her father, J.J. Suddeth, and revealed she would be canceling a few of her upcoming concerts to mourn with her family.
In an emotional Instagram post, Lauren wrote, “We lost my daddy last night, and I really don’t have words yet.” She expressed her need to be with her family during this difficult time, leading to the cancellation of her shows in Savannah, Virginia Beach, and Charlotte.
While the cause of her father’s death was not immediately known, the focus was on Lauren’s heartfelt message and the love she shared with her dad.
Lauren had been on tour with Jason Aldean and was also slated to perform at the Carowinds Summer Music Festival. However, given the circumstances, she emphasized the importance of being with her family, saying, “I want to let y’all know that I’m not able to play the three shows I had scheduled for this weekend.”
In her touching Instagram post, she signed off with “Pinky,” a special nickname given to her by her father. She also thanked her fans for their prayers and understanding during this tough time.
Just last month, Lauren had honored her father with a series of photos from her wedding day, celebrating Father’s Day with a sweet message. “Happy Fathers Day to ‘my old man’ with a heart the size of Texas!! I love you so much daddy and hope you have the best day fishin’,” she wrote, signing off with love from “your turd (pinky).”
The country music community has shown immense support for Lauren. Fellow artists and friends have reached out with messages of love and condolences. Martina McBride sent her love, saying, “Sending you so much love.” Trisha Yearwood expressed her sorrow with, “I love you. So very sorry.” The Grand Ole Opry, where Lauren was invited to join by Trisha Yearwood in 2023, also sent their condolences, saying, “We are so very sorry for your loss! Your Opry family is sending you lots of love and comfort to you and yours.”
Brantley Gilbert also offered his support, saying, “prayers to you and the family! Here for anything y’all need.”
